As part of its Community Engagement, Fort Worth City Band (FWCB)
recognizes that public schools with majority low-income student
populations (Title 1 schools) often lack access and funding to bring fine arts
activities to their campuses. To help address this community need, FWCB
is initiating our Title 1 School Performance Program (T1SPP).
Background: FWCB began in 1960 and has a strong history of community
involvement. Concerts have been performed throughout Tarrant County,
and FWCB was in its early years the band for the Dallas Texans and later
for Dallas Cowboys football games.
When FWCB resumed in 2021 after a break related to COVID protocols,
the band actively developed partnerships with area Title 1 public schools.
FWCB performed with Eastern Hills HS for a combined concert in 2023,
and FWCB also performed with McClung Middle School in 2024. FWCB is
actively planning to perform with two Title 1 Schools (Crowley Middle
School bands) in March 2025.
Program: T1SPP seeks funding from corporations, community and civic
organizations, individual donors, and grants. This funding would allow Fort
Worth City Band to partner with these schools in several ways:
Offer private music lessons provided by select and qualified FWCB
personnel at no or significantly reduced cost to these students, on-
site or virtual.
Allow FWCB to cover costs to a Title 1 school for hosting a FWCB
concert and/or combined concert in their facility.
Partner with Title 1 schools to help acquire good used instruments for
student use to encourage enrollment in band programs.
Donations toward T1SPP can be made here —please note T1SPP as
you contribute.
